A school resource officer witnessed a fight between two students on April 25, 2018 at Emerald High School. Initially the fight involved a juvenile and Gabreill Lakeithea Baskin, 18 of Bradley SC. The officer heard Baskin threaten to send people over to the juvenile mother’s house to kill all.
After an intense struggle, the officer along with several other school employees were able to separate the two.
Later while Baskin was still in handcuffs another student, Dakyese Jamier Crenshaw, 17 jumped on Baskin while they were still in the cafeteria. During the process of breaking them up, a school employee was struck in the chest by Crenshaw.
The officer reported that this is a continuous disagreement between members of the Bowllane/Southside gang and subjects from Abbeville. The juvenile told the officer that Baskin disrespected her brother who was fatally shot recently.
The juvenile and Crenshaw were given citations and released to their family. Baskin was arrested and charged with disturbing school, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
