What makes this even more amazing is not that Prevo is on the radio or even the featured artist of the week. Prevo is blessed just to be about to continue singing. After Prevo’s deployment in Iraq in 2006 -2007, he returned to devastating news. Prevo was diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis. This was tough news for a man that once sang as a Nashville recording artist. After 7 long years and six vocal cord surgeries, Prevo is left with a very unique and one of a kind raspy voice. The loss of his original voice has never dampened his spirit for he seemed to always know there was some crazy purpose in God’s plan.
Before Prevo lost his voice, he recorded his song, Veteran's Hand, which was included on the Country Artist Vol. 1 with To The Fallen Records, released September, 2008. You may listen to it here on Prevo's Reverbnation page as well.
After losing his voice he created .308 Productions to continue his love of music. In 2008, Prevo opened 308 Productions, to help local artists not just realize but to achieve their dreams of recording. The mission of .308 Productions is to bring a voice to the Indie artists who may otherwise not have an opportunity to record their music.
.308 Productions works with artists on the creation of their songs, recording and getting them on sites to be reviewed, ranked and or picked up by major record labels or artists. Every artist needs the opportunity to have their voice heard and .308 Productions is here to help. In 2011 and 2012 and 2013 Prevo was nominated for Producer of the Year at the Carolina Music Awards.
In October, 2013 Prevo was contacted by another local songwriter Dwayne Moore from Ninety Six South Carolina and what would transpire from these two guys meeting no one could have imagined. Their first song came within just a few days of meeting call “Lies & Bruises” written during a time that Greenwood SC ranked #1 in the nation for domestic abuse. Upon release this song immediately created what has quickly become a nation wide movement known as “No More Lies & Bruises” which is helping to bringing attention to the subject of domestic violence. The debut of the song was held at the Sundance Galleries earlier this year in uptown Greenwood with the help of some of the most incredible volunteers. In a single night the event raise more the $15,000.00 for Meg’s House which is the local shelter for abuse victims. What started as a facebook friendship between two guys that loved music has grown into an amazing songwriting partnership that has produced song after song since they day they met. One of which is Moonshine that they co-wrote with another friend singer/songwriter Travis Smith from Woodruff, South Carolina. They also have a secret remix of the song where they feature rap artist Johnny Konway also know as “White Lightning” from Nashville-Atlanta.
It’s hard to get these guys to tell you the actual details surrounding mysteries of this song but they will say that Moonshine came about, late one night, as the moon was right while hanging out looking at a jar of “legal” moonshine. Somehow later, lyrics were birthed, that are now creating a “buzz” around Nashville. Moonshine, the song, is considered hilarious, but also touches on some of the most realistic topics related to dealing with life and most likely what you shouldn’t do in the situation. Many people are saying that the song reminds you of a cross between the movie, ‘Oh Brother Where Art Thou’ and the reality show, ‘Moonshiners.’ but with a humor that only these guys can create.
Oddly enough they never had a plan to release the song with Prevo singing the song. It all started when Moore was hanging out with friends in Nashville one night, and played a portion of Moonshine, which then created chaos among the listeners. “Several Nashville insiders were contacting their artists to see if they wanted to cut the song which was kind of crazy” said Moore
It was later determined that the only voice that could pull off such a unique song, would be the raspy backwoods sound of none other than Prevo himself, who has since been nicknamed, 308.
Recently to everyone’s surprise, Prevo was contacted by THE ICEMAN, Bobby Golomboski out of Nashville, and was made aware that the song, Moonshine, was now on The Iceman’s Cavern song rotation. “I’m really just lost for words, I could have never imagined that after losing my voice I would ever hear myself singing on the radio” was about all Prevo would say. He also went on to say that some things were just meant to be and he counted it all as a blessing. He wanted to thank THE ICEMAN for giving small town guys and girls a chance to play in the big league of country music.
