Wildcat Marching Band Recognized by State Leaders

The 2016 State Champion Wildcat Marching Band visited the South Carolina State Capital today to be recognized by Rep. John McCravy in the House and Sen. Floyd Nicholson in the Senate.

Both leaders expressed how proud they were of the Wildcats Marching Band for winning the 2016 Class A State Championship giving them back-to-back state titles.  They also mentioned that many there were also members of the Ninety Six Indoor Percussion who recently won their 3rd consecutive state championship title as well.

Rep. McCravy humorously explained that this was Band Director David Vickery’s 5th overall championship title and visit to the State House.  “This is their back-to-back championship and David Vickery has been on the floor more than I have” said McCravy.

Then Senator Nicholson welcomed the band to the Senate floor and also explained how proud he was of the Wildcats, not only for the awesome accomplishments for the band but as a school in whole.

Afterwards the band members gathered on the Capital’s steps for the photo pictured above.  They also visited the USC campus to have lunch and see where Vickery spent his college years as he is a proud USC graduate.

In addition the Ninety Six Indoor Percussion band is set to travel to compete in the WGI World Championship in Dayton OH on April 16.  They’re currently in need of more funds and we invite you to visit their GoFundMe page and give any amount you can.  This is a huge opportunity to compete with the best!
