A man was arrested after a business manager reported that someone had broken into their business and stole approximately 96 quarters.
Joseph Paul Heeg, 24 of 1005 E Grumlin Road, Hodges SC was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary and malicious damage to a property.
According to the police report, Heeg was caught on surveillance camera breaking into the business around 9pm on April 7, 2017. The manager told police that approximately 96 quarters were stolen. According to the manager, the last employee that was fired who would have known where money was kept was Heeg.
Police caught up with Heeg at his residence in Hodges. Heeg admitted to breaking into the business and said he cashed the quarters in for cash and then purchased cigarettes. Heeg did return 6 of the stolen quarters.
When asked why be broke into the business, Heeg said “I didn’t know if we were going to make the rent this month”.
