Hodges man led Ninety Six Police and other law enforcement on a nine mile, high speed chase before crashing into a Greenwood County Sheriff Deputy’s patrol car.
Gary Barker Plake III of 1322 Nation Road, Hodges SC was arrested and charged with failure to stop for blue lights, expired vehicle license, DUS, reckless driving, possession of heroin, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the report, the Ninety Six Police attempted to stop Plake’s vehicle at the intersection of East Main Street and Rogers Street. The vehicle had a total of three individuals inside. Plake then led officers and Sheriff Deputies on a high speed pursuit which lasted nearly 9 miles.
Plake struck a Sheriff’s patrol vehicle on Parkland Place Road in Greenwood County. Then Plake took off on foot but was apprehended in a nearby wooded area.
Plake was transported to Self Regional Healthcare after officers were aware that he had ingested several narcotics and exhibited signs of such. Plake was treated and then transported to the Greenwood County Detention Center.
The two other individuals in the vehicle with Plake were released after law enforcement deemed that they were not willing participants in the incident.
