The American Legion Family of Post 2 is celebrating its 100th anniversary with two events. The events include a monument dedication honoring the founders of Post 2 on September 13th at 6pm. The American Legion state commander, Walt Richardson will join us in dedicating this centennial monument. This will be an event open to the public and we will have light refreshments afterwards in the Abbeville Veterans Foundation Building 200 Long Branch St in Abbeville (same locale).
Our second event will be a semi-formal celebration dinner on the 14th of September at 6pm. This is an invitation -only event and will include as guests; SC American Legion 1st Vice Commander, Roberta Poulus, Mayor Delano Freeman, Abbeville City and SC State Rep. Craig Gagnon. This is a catered event hosting members of post 2 and their spouses. This as well, will be held at the Veterans Building on Long Branch St in Abbeville.
The American Legion is the nation’s leading advocate for veterans, a strong national defense, patriotic youth programs and Americanism. Post 2 has been living that commitment to service since 1919 through programs such as; Boys and Girls State, Wolfe Law Academy and community support of Americanism programs.
