West Carolina Tel, the area’s technology cooperative and gigabit service provider, has increased its internet speeds and in some cases, even lowered internet prices for customers. New prices and speed tiers are as follows:
Plan Monthly Rate
200 x 200 Mbps $40
500 x 500 Mbps $60
1000 x 1000 Mbps (1 Gigabit per second) $80
These speeds feature symmetrical upload and download speeds, meaning that the upload speed matches the download speed. Symmetrical speeds are especially useful for customers with high upload needs, particularly people who work from home or regularly upload media to social networks. As the number of devices in homes are increasing, 4k TVs and other smart devices are becoming more popular and even sizes of websites are increasing, the need for faster speeds is growing.
“We are thrilled to upgrade speeds for customers to help them have the best internet experience possible,” said Jeff Wilson, CEO of West Carolina Tel. “The needs of our customers for fast internet continues to grow. The lower prices enable our customers to connect more efficiently and quickly to the things that matter to them—entertainment, news, productivity tools, and staying in touch with family and friends.”
