The American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine announce that John Eichelberger, MD and Rob Tiller, MD have achieved certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Hospice and palliative medicine is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses. It focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stresses of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
Dr. Eichelberger and Dr. Tiller join fellow physician Dr. Bob Todd, medical director of HospiceCare of the Piedmont, in achieving certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Todd and Dr. Tiller are Board Certified in Family Medicine, and Dr. Eichelberger is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Self Regional Healthcare and HospiceCare of the Piedmont now have three physicians who are Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. All three physicians also teach in the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Montgomery Center.
The American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine was formed in 1995 to establish and measure the level of knowledge, attitudes and skills required for certification of physicians practicing hospice and palliative medicine. Information on the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine including a listing of certified physicians may be obtained from the website at www.abhpm.org.
HospiceCare of the Piedmont is a non-profit, community hospice serving the terminally ill and their families in Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, and Saluda Counties. For more information, call 227-9393 or visit www.hospicepiedmont.org.
