Watson to run for Abbeville County Sheriff

Brian King
Staff Writer

Capt. Ray Watson, the chief investigator for the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, announced that he will once again seek the office of Abbeville County’s top lawman in the upcoming special election.

Watson, a 20 year veteran of law enforcement, will run as a Democrat in the election.

“I will do my best to bring honor, integrity and trust back to the Sheriff’s Office,” Watson said. “I live in Abbeville County. My kids go to school in Abbeville County. Kids are our future and we will do whatever we have to do to protect our kids and our teachers.”

Watson said he is adamant about the drug problem and educating youth about the dangers of drug use. He also plans to implement a plan where deputies “adopt” schools and build a bond between the Sheriff’s Office, the school, parents and students.

I think Ray will be the perfect candidate for sheriffWe don't need anymore"you pat my back and I'll pat yours" attitude in law enforcement. We need honesty and integrity.I also don't think these men running that just ran last fall should have to pay the fee for being a candidate, after all they were cheated out of the race last time!!!
