Greenwood, SC - Police officers arrested one man believed to be the suspect in a stabbing incident. On the evening of Dec 23, 2017, officers were dispatched to a house on Edgefield Street where someone had allegedly been robbed.
While they were heading to the residence, they were told that the victim had been stabbed. Officers located a male victim with multiple deep puncture wounds to his head and back. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.
The victim and witnesses all gave officers information on the suspect. Bystanders told police that the suspect fled to a nearby house party after the assault. When officers went looking for him, the suspect attempted to flee from them on a bicycle. The suspect was quickly detained, but chose not to speak with police. The knife allegedly used in the incident was located on the suspect with what appeared to be dry blood on it.
Christopher Jones, 44, of 208 Panola Avenue Greenwood was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Failure to Stop on Lawful Command. He was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center. At last report, the victim was recovering from his injuries and is expected to be okay.
