Hilda Chalmers Bell, 88

Hilda Chalmers Bell, 88, resident of Orchard Park Road, widow of William L. “Bill” Bell died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Hospice House.


Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late James William, Sr. and Annie Lavender Chalmers.  A graduate of Greenwood High School, she was also a graduate of Greenwood College of Commerce. 


Mrs. Bell was a charter member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Columbia.


She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.


Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Bell and wife Gail of Greenwood and Lee Bell of Palm Beach, FL; one daughter, Kathy Osborne and husband Lenson of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Jamie Bell, Trent Bell and wife Kristin, Casey Bell, Lee Ann Starnes and husband Fred and Katelen Osborne; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Starnes and Abby Starnes.


Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clark McCrary officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.


Pallbearers will be Jimmy Chalmers, Michael Chalmers, Jamie Bell, Trent Bell, Fred Starnes and Sammy Barger.


The family is at the home of son, Jimmy Bell and wife Gail, 709 Saddle Hill, Road, Greenwood and will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 PM until the service hour.


In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, PO Box 66, Ninety Six, SC 29666 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
