Luther Clarence "Junce" Thrailkill, 91

Luther Clarence “Junce” Thrailkill, 91, resident of 230 Woodrow Avenue, husband of Irma Siebert Thrailkill, died January 23, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born September 10, 1921, in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Luther C., Sr. and Bessie Adams Thrailkill.  He was a graduate and football letterman of Saluda High School and was retired as a sales representative from Durham Life Insurance Company. 

Mr. Thrailkill was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, the Adult 5 Sunday School Class of the church, the Emerald Antique Auto Club and was a Life member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91, A.F.M.

He was devoted to family and was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, LaVern and wife Patti Thrailkill of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Ceceilia T. and husband Fred Pitts of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Daisy Thrailkill and Katelyn Thrailkill, both of Wilmington, NC, Chandler Pitts and fiancé Kristen DeYoung of Charleston and Keller Pitts of Greenwood.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at South Main Street Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Quigley and Rev. Phil Thrailkill officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews

Honorary escort will be members of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class.

The family is at the home on Woodrow Avenue and will receive friends in the Connecting Place of the church from 1 to 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

Memorials may be made either to the South Main Street Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. 1093, Greenwood, SC  29648, or Faith Home, P.O. Box 39, Greenwood, SC  29648.
