Vernie Hayden Bishop, 96

   Vernie Hayden Bishop, 96, of 437 East Cambridge Avenue, widow of Sumter Ray Bishop, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at NHC of Greenwood.

  Born in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Ernest H. and Mamie Miller Lee Hayden.  Vernie retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant and was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Callie Self Chapter.

  Surviving is her daughter, Meredith Ann Schneider and her husband, Allyn, of Hilton Head; a sister, Lucy Hayden Satterfield of Greenville; two grandchildren, Donnis Sleister and Michael Walker; five great grandchildren, Hayden Godfrey, Paige Sleister, Will Johnson, Taylor Johnson and Megan Truell; three great-great grandchildren, Jaiden Raines, Macie Godfrey and Taylor Godfrey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Ray “Dickie” Bishop and a granddaughter, Belinda Bishop Johnson.

  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Lethco officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

  Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jim Satterfield, Gary Collins; grandsons, Hayden Godfrey, Will Johnson, Taylor Johnson; and family friend, Seb Tinsley.

  The family members are at their respective homes.
