Ruby Dickey Poore, 97, widow of John Willie Poore, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at OconeeMedicalCenter.
She was born June 29, 1915 inMetter,Ga., the daughter of the late William Horace and Fannie Beasley Dickey. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ware Shoals, SC and served as Director of Christian Education/Church Secretary for over 30 years.
Survivors include a beloved granddaughter; Heather Poore Barker and husband James David Barker ofSeneca,SC, a great-grandson; James “Dylan” Barker, with whom she made her home, brother; Bill Dickey and wife Reba Dickey ofClaxton,Ga., brother-in-law; Harmon Thrift of Metter,Ga.and a number of nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, John Dickey Poore, sisters; Eloise Dickey Poore and Bernice Dickey Thrift.
Services are 2 PM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Wayne Wicker and the Rev. Frank Cunningham III. Burial will follow inGreenwoodMemorialGardens.
Pallbearers will be George Rush, Charles Chasteen, Billy Hudgens, Marion McMahan, Dale Thrift, Glyn Thrift and Ralph Gibson. Honorary escort will be members of the Hebron Ladies Bible Class and Men’s Bible Class.
