Minnie Southerland - Greenwood

Minnie Lou “Momsie” Southerland of Greenwood went to be with Jesus on January 4, 2017, surrounded by family.

Born October 13, 1919, she lived a full life of loving, giving, and being loved. She was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and had also attended Grace Community Church and ReaLife Ministries.

She was survived by two sons, Randy Southerland (Judy) and Ivan Southerland (Sandi); two daughters, Elaine Rhodes and Denise Perry (BJ); eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, as well as several extended family members.

There is no way to adequately express how much she was loved or how much she meant to her family. She leaves a legacy of love and prayer and care for everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Friday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason McCary officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family is at the home of her son Ivan, 2002 Mt. Moriah Rd in Greenwood and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 Friday afternoon.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the following people for the care they gave to her in her final years/days: Dr. Holmes and his staff, Dr. Galloway and his staff, Cindy Fesler, the staff of Magnolia Manor, and the caring individuals at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.
