Holley Lewis Smith, Jr., 88, resident of 3217 Ninety Six Highway, husband of Peggy J. Smith, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at NHC of Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood, March 25, 1928, he was a son of the late Holley L. Smith Sr. and Sallie Langley Smith. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War era and was the former owner of the TE Jones & Sons Furniture Store in Greenwood.
Mr. Smith was a member of Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church where he had served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also a past president of the Greenwood Merchants Association.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his three children, Kathryn Holly East of Greenville, Stanley Smith and wife Renae of Lexington and Lynn Smith Lewis and husband Jerry of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Julie Hunter, Stephanie Derr, Paige Allen, Holly Love and Elizabeth Watt and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Terry and husband Alonzo of Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Brock and Dr. Cliff Vicars officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jason Allen, Jonah Allen, Jason Derr, Justin Love, Ron Hunter, Doug Watt and Jackson Love.
Honorary escort will be Dennis Kelly, Steve Brown, Fred Allewine, Eric Turner, Dr. Michael Bryant, Van Hutchins, Joey Owens, Scott Turner, John Williams, William Chambers, Randall Jay, Roy Horne, TJ Bryant, Early Gunnells, Devant Kelly and Terry Bonds.
The family is at the home on Ninety Six Highway and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
