Doris Fowler Harter, 93, resident of 421 North Church Street, wife of William H. “Dick” Harter, Jr., passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at her home.
Born in Greenwood, August 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late James Arthur and Elizabeth Wilson Fowler and was a graduate of Greenwood High School. Mrs. Harter was formerly employed by Greenwood Mills and later owned and operated North Cambridge Grocery.
She was a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 69 years of the home is a son, William H. “Rick” Harter, III; a granddaughter, Haylee Harter and a great-grandson, Ashton Perry, all of Greenwood.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2PM Tuesday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Smyth officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Gene Williams, Mickey Goodman, Wade Harter, James C. Smoot, Greg McFarland, William Hawkins, Jay Reynolds and Rip Tafta.
The family is at the home on North Church Street and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday.
