Kent Austin Ball, 83, resident of Morningside Assisted Living, widower of Cora Ann Parham Ball, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Clinchport, Virginia, January 26, 1934 he was a son of the late Oscar Ray and Janie Grace Templeton Ball. Mr. Ball was retired from the US Air Force after more than 20 years of service and also retired as president of Ball Gas Services. He was proud of the fact of being a published author. He had made his home since 1996 in Greenwood and was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are daughters, Denise (Kelly) Rainwater of Hull, GA and Dani (Ken) Walden of Hodges; grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Griffith, Ryan (Claire) Griffith, Daniel (Jodi) Gustchen, Abigail Gustchen-Reeff, Mary Shannon Walden, Kenny (Paige) Walden, Christian (April) Walden and Jonathan (Tiffany) Walden; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3PM Friday, April 7, 2017 in the Oakbrook Memorial Park Family Center with Rev. Archie Moore officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family is at the home of Dani and Ken Walden, 500 Flatwood Road in Hodges and will receive friends in the Family Center immediately following the service.
