Elsie Padgett - Bonne Terre, MO

  Elsie Lunette Padgett, 93, of Bonne Terre, MO, passed away on April 15, 2017 at County Meadows Nursing Center in Park Hills, MO.

  She was born on February 7, 1924 in McCormick, SC.  She was a member of the Church of God of Edgefield, SC and was employed by as clerical at Great Plains Gas for 11 years and as an assistant librarian at the Bonne Terre Memorial Library for two years. Elsie also served for ten years on the former Child’s Welfare Committee of St. Francois County.  She and her husband, Rev. John Padgett, Sr., retired from the ministry in 1979 after serving at the Bonne Terre Church of God for 17 years.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Ruby White Reynolds; her husband of 60 years, Rev. John Padgett, Sr.; stepmother, Irene Reynolds; sister in infancy, Roberta Reynolds; sister, Lucille Ouzts; two brothers, Ray Reynolds and Willie Reynolds; and half-brothers, Jimmy Reynolds and Buddy Reynolds.

  Elsie is survived by her son, John “Wayne” Padgett, Jr. and his wife, Deon; three grandchildren, Brian Padgett and his wife, Pamela, Stephanie Padgett, SSgt Derek Padgett and his wife, Amber; four great grandchildren, Espen and Reece Padgett, A. J. Long and his wife, Jennifer, Jennifer Long; two great great grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Long.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

  Services in Greenwood will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Padgett officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  Memorials may be made to the Bonne Terre Church of God, 223 Jackson St, Bonne Terre, MO 63628.
