Essie Mae Kelley, 84, widow of Charles O. Kelley, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2017. Born in Lincolnton, GA to the late J.C. Jackson and the late Alice Zellars.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie C. Kelley, and three brothers, Willie C. Williams, Robert L. Zellars and John T. Zellars.
Essie received her education from Harmony School in Lincolnton, GA. She retired from the textile industry and was also a retired homemaker. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Lincolnton, GA and attended Big Bethel Community Church in Ware Shoals, SC. She was a member of the Ladies Aide Society #98.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Raymond (Kathy) Kelley of Greenwood, SC; four daughters, Minister Ola (Walter) Pruitt of Donalds, SC; Hattie (Pastor Edward) Stewart of Pelzer, SC; Rose (Phillip) Middleton and Monica (Pete) Griffin both of Greenwood, SC.; two sisters, Nanleen (Floyd) Freeman and Ann Cullars of Lincolnton, GA; 17 grandchildren, one reared in the home Germichael (Patrice) Kelley of Philadelphia, PA; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends that will miss her dearly.
The family is at the home, 30 Sullivan Street in Ware Shoals, SC. The body is at First Family Funeral Home in Greenwood, SC. Services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church 154 First Baptist Street Lincolnton, GA 30817 at 12 noon.
