Patti Knox Nickles, 62, resident of 250 Deer Run, Abbeville, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Hospice House in Greenwood.
Born August 2, 1955 in Abbeville, SC, she is one of three children of Alice F. Knox (Abbeville) and James W. Knox, Jr. (Due West). She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Patti’s career included working at Bloomsburg Mills office, Fort Knox Auctioneers and became a real estate agent in 2008. During her association with Berkshire Hathaway, she was in the top seven percent in the nation with their company for listings and sales. In the 1990’s, Patti developed Deer Run, an upscale residential development in Abbeville.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Pearl and Paul Williams, Sr., of Abbeville; Ella F. and J. Wallace Knox, Sr., of Abbeville; a sister, Kyle Thompson of Abbeville and ex-husband William F. “Teto” Nickles.
Surviving in addition to her parents Alice F. Knox and James W. Knox, Jr., are a son, Patrick K. Nickles of the home and fiancé Heather Lynch; sisters, Merry K. (Ken) Hyman of Hodges and Jaime Knox of Greenville; step-mother, Pamela Knox and step-sons, Will Nickles and Tom (Mary Ann) Nickles, all of Abbeville; step-grandmother, Mildred Reiberg of Due West; nephews, Don (Susan) Stone, Jeffry Thompson, Andrew Hyman and Chris Hyman, all of Abbeville; nieces, Taylor Thompson and fiancé Joey Rogers and Casey (Mel) Ashley, all of Abbeville; aunts, Sara Morgan of Abbeville, Frances (Charlie) George of Greenville and JoAnn Davis of Spartanburg; uncles, Frank E. Knox of Abbeville, Robert Knox of Greenwood and Paul (Jane) Williams, Jr., of Abbeville; her dear companion of twenty-two years, N. Wayne Reynolds of Ware Shoals as well as many cousins, too numerous to list. Special friends include, Sandy and Jeff Wilson of Abbeville, Jane and Frank Tumminia of Spartanburg, Jill Horton McMillan of Mullins, Martha Cleveland of Atlanta, GA, Billy and Cheryl Baer and fellow agents of Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel, 1425 Montague Avenue in Greenwood with Rev. James H. Williams officiating.
Interment will be at a later date.
The family is at the home of Merry and Ken Hyman, 3172 Old Douglas Mill Road, Hodges and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2PM Thursday.
