Cindy Butler - Greenwood

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Bridges Butler, 58, wife of Hugh D. Butler, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pensacola, FL, July 14, 1959, she was a daughter of Joann Helen Bridges and the late Walter Thomas Bridges, Sr. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and had received an associate degree from Piedmont Technical College. She had been employed with Self Regional Medical Center for 35 years and was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Cindy had a very close bond with her entire family and was considered the “leader of the pack.” Her favorite pastime was to spend as much time as possible on the Pensacola beach, preferably from sun up to sun down. She was known for her giving spirit, helping others in her quiet way and without wanting any recognition for her good deeds.

Surviving in addition to her husband and best friend of 40 years and her mother of Greenwood are her two sons, Tom (Leighann) Butler of Columbia and Gabe (Rachel) Butler of Greenwood; her sister, Linda (Ronald) Powell of Greenwood; two brothers, Tom (June) Bridges, Jr of Greenwood and Stephen (Jeri Lyn) Bridges of Vancouver, WA; four grandchildren, Ella Kate, Paisleigh, Ayden and Hannah Grace.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 Saturday evening.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 303 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or www.cancer.org.
