Stanley Scott - Greenwood

Stanley Vachel “Papa Stan” Scott, 76, resident of 1060 Burnett Road, husband of Lena M. Weeks Scott, passed away October 9, 2017, at Hospice House.

Born May 18, 1941, in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Roy Vachel and Irene Ouzts Scott.  He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the Greenwood College of Commerce and was the owner/operator of Scott’s Heating & Cooling. Stanley was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard.

A member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church, he was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was a devout Gamecock Fan and loved driving his Legends Race Car.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeff (Annette) Scott and Danny Hazel, all of Greenwood; three daughters, Kim Scott (Rev. David) Harrell, Tammy (Mike) Barbour, all of Greenwood and Angie ( Daryl) Key of New Ellenton, SC; two sisters, Hazel Miller of Greenwood and Ann (Ronnie) Sterling of N. Augusta; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Alice McClure.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday at Rice Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Hodges and Rev. David Harrell officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Anderson, Jerry Scott, Jim Brown, Danny Hazel, Jimmy Weeks and Carl Weeks.

The family is at the home on Burnett Road and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 5 to 7 Thursday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to New Covenant Church, 1509 Woodlawn Road, Greenwood, SC  29646.
