Oscar Timms - Hodges

James Oscar Timms, 83, resident of 5213 Highway 185, widower of Barbara Magaha Timms, passed away November 5, 2017, at his home.

Born May 22, 1934, in Hodges, he was a son of the late Capers Ellis and Zelpha Cullens Timms.  He was educated in Hodges School and retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant.  He formerly served in the SC National Guard.

A member of Providence Baptist Church he was also a former member of Bascomb Masonic Lodge #363, A.F.M., and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

The last member of his immediate family, he is survived by a son, Brian and wife Jean Timms; a daughter, Renee and husband Steve Bailey; a daughter-in-law, Robbie Timms, all of Hodges; four grandchildren, Alisha (Brent) Couch, Brandon (Jennifer) Timms, Jodie Timms and Tiffany Walden; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, James Faron Timms; a granddaughter, Melissa Timms Lusk; two brothers, Howard Timms and Capers Timms; three sisters, Dot Brissey, Mary Branyon and Audrey Bowie.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lamar Babb officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Reeves, G.B. Riley, Toby Lee, Pete Branyon, Keaton Weaver, Kameron Madden, Scott Magaha and Mike Magaha.

The family is at the home on Hwy 185, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to2 Wednesday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6, Hodges, SC  29653.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Judy and Ms. Ann for the special care and devotion to Mr. Timms and to MSA Hospice.
