Brigadier General David Hancock completed his earthly mission on November 25, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, and now joins his Heavenly Father and his beloved wife, Ruth in eternity. He lived his life fully devoted to his faith, family, and country.
Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Grover David and Christine C. Hancock. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and then in the South Carolina Army National Guard, from which he retired.
He leaves a legacy of servant leadership to his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Tommie Hancock of Greenwood; his daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Bart Miller of Greer; and granddaughter Tara Miller, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law Brett and Hannah Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at their respective homes, and will receive friends Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church, prior to the service. The celebration of life will also be a tribute to our military veterans and active servicemen who are invited to attend the service.
In lieu of food and flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Honor Flight Upstate: PO Box 838, Simpsonville, SC, 29681 or to Upstate Warrior Solution: 3 Caledon Ct., Suite A-2, Greenville, SC 29615 to honor our military which he respected and loved dearly.
