Hoyt Ray Truelove, 88, resident of Highway 184 East, husband of Lillie Mae Smith Truelove, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born March 9, 1929, in Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Connie Barto Truelove and Mamie Saylors Truelove. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and the University of South Carolina, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business, and later from Erskine College with a Master’s of Education. He was retired from the US Air Force after attaining the rank of Captain, having served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Following his retirement in 1975, he moved to Donalds to work the family farm with his father.
He was a member of Chiquola United Methodist Church in Honea Path.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years are a son, Michael and wife Donna Truelove of Stafford, VA; a daughter, Terry and husband Neil Ivester of Belton; a sister, Dot Thompson of Ware Shoals; three brothers, Barto Truelove of Altamonte Springs, FL, Jimmy and wife Michelle Truelove of Greenwood, and Billy and wife Gail Truelove of Navarre, FL; three grandchildren, Sharlie and husband Benjamin Grier of Donalds, Ferris and husband Wade Joye of Charlotte, and Steven and wife Nisha Truelove of St. Augustine, FL; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Kathy T. Knoblock.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:30 am Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Chuck Moates officiating.
The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood from 10 to 11, Tuesday morning.
