Jack Alexander - Greenwood

Jack Franklin Alexander, 94, died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Givens Highland Farms Retirement Center in Black Mountain, NC.

Jack was born in Greenville County, SC and grew up in Mountville, SC. He was longtime resident of Greenwood, SC. He was the son of Arthur Franklin Alexander and Grace Middleton Alexander, who predeceased him. Jack was also predeceased by seven siblings and his son, Jackie Wayne Alexander of Greenwood, SC.

Jack was a World War II veteran, serving in the 436th Bomber Squadron of the Army Air Corps in India. He retired from Moore Business Forms in Greenwood, SC. He and his wife Polly were longtime members of the Harris Baptist Church in Greenwood, where Jack was active as a Deacon and in numerous other roles. Jack was always known as hardworking, outgoing and considerate.

Jack is survived by his wife of 71 years, Pauline “Polly” Stone Alexander of Givens Highland Farms, two siblings, Edwin Alexander of Mountville, SC and Helen Alexander Edwards of Greenwood, SC, a daughter, Sylvia Alexander McCollum and her husband William R. McCollum of Swannanoa, NC, as well as five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, June 9, 2018 from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
