Linda Richey - Greenwood

Linda Ann Ozmint Richey, 83, resident of Morgan Avenue, widow of Bobby Lee Richey, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Hospice House.

Born in Iva, February 7, 1935, she was a daughter of Thomas and Mary Brown Ozmint. She attended Iva High School and retired as a switchboard operator from Self Memorial Hospital. She was formerly employed with Sprint Telephone for 24 years.

A member of Harris Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Co-Ed II Sunday School Class of the church. Linda enjoyed dancing and most of all loving her grandchildren by whom she was affectionately known as “GM”.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann Richey Rearden and husband Keith; a granddaughter, Erin Rearden Smith and husband Josh; a grandson, Philip Chandler Rearden and wife Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin Grace Smith, Boone David Smith and Manse Keith Rearden; daughter-in-law, Tami Richey all of Greenwood.

She was predeceased in addition to her husband and parents by two sons, Bobby Lee Richey, Jr. and William “Billy” Richey; three sisters, Georgia O. Alexander, Frances Ozmint and Miriam O. Shaw and a brother, Melvin Ozmint.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM Friday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Thomas and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ray Boles, Russell Brewer, Emery Holsonback, Barry Mayfield, Curtis Shelley and Josh Smith.

Honorary Escort will be member of the Co-Ed II Sunday School Class along with George Wham, Pete Craft, William Shaw, Steve Alexander, Kenny Andrews, Kevin Walker, David Todd and Randy Miles.

The family is at the home of her daughter on Gary Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30AM til 1:00 PM Friday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Harris Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
