Hoyt Dorn, 85, of 735 Ninety Six Highway, widower of Carol Burden Dorn, died Friday, September 28, 2018 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Fred and Ethel Ouzts Dorn. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of service, having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also formerly employed by Greenwood Mills Mathews Plant and was a truck driver for the Greenwood Packing Plant.
Surviving are sons, Hoyt C. Dorn (Pattie) of Waterloo and Jesse E. Dorn (Teresa) of Cross Hill; brothers, Raymond Dorn and Curtis Dorn; grandchildren, Cameron Dorn, Randy Dorn, Kasey Dorn, Dillon Dorn, Sterling Skelton, Chase Skelton and Madelyn Skelton; and two great grandchildren, Riley Dorn and Randy Ray Dorn, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Carole Beatrice Dorn; a son, Ronnie Ray Dorn; his sister, Irene King and brothers, George Dorn, James Dorn and Yancey Dorn.
Graveside services, with full military rites, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
