Linda Lewis Ray - Greenwood

Linda Lewis Ray, 73, wife of Dr. Starling Speed Ray II, resident of 201Hunting Road, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born July 21, 1945 in Mullins, she was a daughter of the late John Derham and Jessie Derrick Lewis. She received her BA from Limestone College in Elementary Education and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s office, Dr. Speed Ray.

Linda was an avid bridge player and loved to read. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Cynthia Ray “Cindy” Crawford and husband Troy of Mt. Pleasant; son, Starling Speed Ray IV “Lin” of Easley; brother, John Pickens Derham “Johnny” Lewis and wife Faye of Mullins; grandchildren, William Ray Crawford and Robert Troy Crawford, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Kyle D. Hite officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 3PM Saturday in Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, SC with Rev. Terry Roof officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dean Ray, Derrick Lewis, Tommy Chapman, Duncan Williams, Terry Poole and Barney Easterling.

Honorary escort will be member s of the Friends Bridge Club and caretakers, Cocoa Sprowl, Jackie Paul, Barbara Gilchrist-Sanders, Barbara Jones, Brandy White, Doretta Sprowl and Kathy Rolin.

The family is at the home and will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 Saturday morning.

Memorials may be made to the Rotary Club of Greenwood, P.O. Box 50463, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to the Denmark Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 387, Denmark, SC 29042.
