Elizabeth Clark Herndon went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 8, 2019 at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully after an extended illness. A long term resident of Greenwood, Elizabeth was born and raised in Bartow, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence P. and Mayme L. Clark.
After having two daughters, Elizabeth went on to teach Special Education at Oakland Elementary School. While teaching she earned her master's degree in Education. She was always proud of her students seeing them thrive and grow. She enjoyed traveling, her pets, friends, neighbors and clothes. She was active in the First Baptist Church serving as a volunteer.
As an only child, Elizabeth had a special relationship with her mother. Her parents will be there to greet her in heaven. She leaves the rest of us to cherish her memory. A special thanks goes to Gertrude McKelley and Lue Mack who provided love and support for many years. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for their support.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Charles H. Herndon, III, daughters Laura Herndon, Lynn Brooks, grandchildren Reed Brooks, Elizabeth Westbrook and her favorite son-in-law James Brooks.
Graveside services will be conducted at Edgewood Cemetery located next to the First Baptist Church at 722 Grace St. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00PM.
Memorials if desired, can be made to the First Baptist Church, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649 or charity of choice.
