William Jackson "Jack" Burton - Greenwood

William Jackson Jack Burton, 57, of Greenwood, husband of Donna Jan Hill Burton, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC, he was a son of Marvin Jackson Burton and Mary Patricia Mulkey Burton. Jack received his Bachelor of Science from Lander University, majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Chemistry and Biology. He was an Educator at his Alma Mater. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and his parents, are a sister, Rayne Adams (Gene); a brother, Jimmy Burton (Caroline); parents-in-law, Harvey and Jimmie Hill; a sister-in-law, Leisa Howard (Travis); a special niece, Abby Adams and a special nephew, Alex Howard.  Jack also leaves behind a very dear friend who has been like a daughter to both Jack and Jan, Ashley Taylor Willner.

Jack was curious about life and had a full spectrum of interests, ranging from science to zombies, UFOs, bowling, pirates, fishing, Star Trek, and Bigfoot. He loved to watch the best of the worst C-list horror     movies with friends. But more than anything, he loved people. Jack's open, welcoming spirit impacted    countless people he met in profoundly positive ways. Jack was an authentic, original masterpiece.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, June 3, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Father Timothy Tebalt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Greenwood Humane Society, PO Box 49776, Greenwood, SC 29649.
