Hubert N. Minor - Greenwood

Hubert N. Minor, 91, formerly of West Keels Road, Hodges, widower of Annie Ruth Faulkner Minor, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

  Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Clarence Paul Minor and Lela Mae Koone Minor Adkins.  Hubert was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII and was a building contractor having retired in 1985. He was the former fire chief of Hodges Volunteer Fire Department and was a past president of Greenwood County Fireman’s Association. Hubert was a former Past Master of Basomb No. 363 Lodge in Hodges, a past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, was in the Emerald Antique Car Club, and a member of Hodges United Methodist Church. Hubert most recently was well known for cracking pecans.  

  He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Minor.

  Surviving are two children, Karen Blackwell (Mike) of Greenwood and Kevin Minor of Hodges; three grandchildren, Cliff Jay (Brittany), Carley Doyle (Matthew), and Kayla Blackwell; four great grandchildren, Cody Jay, Illanna Jay, Brendan Doyle, and Lily Doyle.

  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ashley McCoy-Bruce officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Greenwood Memorials Gardens. Masonic rites and firefighter rites will also be honored.

  Pallbearers will be Cliff Jay, Matthew Doyle, Calvin Hannah,

  Honorary escort will be members of Basomb Lodge - Hodges No. 363 and the Hodges Fire Department.

  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
