Donald “Donnie” W. White, 66, of Troy, husband of Carol Ann Metts White, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Julian Jeno W. White Jr. and Esther Wilbur White. Donnie was a graduate of Clinton High School, where he was quarterback of the football team and received a football scholarship to Clemson University, where he played as a running back. He was employed for 29 years with Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant and retired as an engineering supervisor with Quanta Engineering.
Donnie was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman and loved spending time with his grandboys. He was a member of Star Fort Golf Club. He attended Redemption Baptist Church in Enoree and Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his sons, Steven McGee (Jill) and Kyle White (Alisha), both of Greenwood; sisters, Patricia White of Columbia and Cynthia White Whitmire (John) of Greenwood; brother Julian “Bill” White (Suzan) of Greenwood; and grandsons, Max and Lake McGee and Ethan and Adam White.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ralph Byars officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home and Crematory.
