Leonard Wayne Waters

Leonard Wayne “Georgia Boy” Waters, 69, a resident of 122 Frances Street, husband of Jennie Maffett Waters, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born October 22, 1949, in Statesboro, GA, he was a son of the late Charles and Willalee Hendrix Waters.  He was a 1968 graduate of Greenwood High School, retired from Land and Timber Resources and was an avid deer hunter.

A member of Real Life Ministries, he was also a member of the Real Men’s Ministry of the church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 51 years are two sons, Tony Waters of Ninety Six and Travis and wife Tricia Waters of Simpsonville; two brothers, Shelton and wife Joyce Waters of Atlanta and Dennis Waters of Greenwood; and four grandchildren, Elise Waters, Addison Waters, Jackson Waters and Emma Waters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason McCary and Rev. R.C. Davenport officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Michael Waters, Doug Chambers, James Hendrix, David Hendrix, Bryan Calliham and Casey Hendrix.

Honorary escort will be members of the Real Men’s Ministry.

The family will be at the home in Fairforest and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
