Thomas Peter Stathakis

Thomas Peter “Tom” Stathakis, 72, a resident of Lodge Grounds, husband of Jane Byrd Stathakis, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019, at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born December 18, 1946, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Peter Thomas and Helen Blanos Stathakis.  He was a 1964 graduate of Carlisle Military Academy and was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps Reserve. Tom was the former owner/operator of Greenwood Pawnbrokers.

He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Greenville and was a Life Member of the Marine Corps League.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Helen S. and husband Haris Michael of Charleston and two granddaughters, Alexandra and Andriana Michael of Charleston.

He was predeceased by his son, Peter Thomas “Pete” Stathakis, II.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Father Tom Pistolis officiating.  Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 9:15 to 10:45 Thursday morning at the funeral home followed by a Trisagion and funeral processional.

Memorials may be made to either St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 406 N. Academy Street, Greenville, SC  29601, or to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
