Barbara Whatley Reid - Greenwood

Barbara J. Whatley Reid, 72, resident of Bruce Road, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Born April 2, 1947, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Eugene and Elizabeth Parkman Whatley. She was a 1965 graduate of Greenwood High School and retired from Leath Correctional Institute as a corrections officer. She was previously employed with Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant.

A member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Mary Pinckney Ouzts Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a daughter, Kristi Moore Cothran (Shane Campbell) of Ware Shoals; a grandson, Michael Cothran (Jaida Pratt) of Ninety Six; and a great-grandson, Oliver Cothran of Ninety Six.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hubbard, Steve Welch, Hilton Dodgen, Michael Cothran, Chris Folsom and Dan Gorman.

Honorary escort will be J. B. Whatley, Larry Wash, John Wash, Mike Moore, Bo Parkman, Billy Fuller, John Rawski and Dave Wolf.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Thursday evening.

Memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 108 Mountain Creek Road, Troy, SC 29848.
