Clyde Bennett, Jr - Waterloo, SC

Clyde Bennett, Jr., 80, of 144 Arthur Hill Road, Waterloo, SC, peacefully and quietly departed this life on Friday, December 6, 2019 at his home. 

He was born in Waterloo, SC to the late Clyde Bennett, Sr. and Eliza Hill Bennett.  He was reared in the home of his grandmother, the late Eva Hill.  He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and attended the public schools in Laurens County.  He retired for South Carolina Department of Transportation after 20 plus years of service. 

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents and grandparents, his wife, Songa Martin Bennett, a daughter, Bessie Bennett and a brother, Willie Herbert Bennett, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a son, Anthony Tryone Bennett, wife Tymika of the home; four daughters, Carol Lee Bennett, Veronica Bennett both of Clinton, SC, Lisa Smith, husband Bruce of Waterloo, SC, and Danielle Coleman, husband Michael of Gray Court, SC; two sisters, Shirley Latimer, husband Thomas of Laurens, SC and Barbara Tompkins-Foster, husband Charles of Waterloo, SC; 14 grandchildren, one reared in the home, Tarsha Bennett; 7 great grandchildren; an aunt, Dorothy Walker of Shallotte, NC and an uncle, Arthur Hill, wife Annie of Waterloo, SC; a host of loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Herbert E. Glenn officiating.  The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of his sister, Barbara and Charles Foster, 4136 Todd Quarter Road. Waterloo.

Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bennett family.
