Vernice Boggs, 76

Vernice Wendell Boggs, 76, husband of the late Alice Mae Rudder Boggs, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9, 2012.

Mr. Boggs was born July 27, 1936 in Lavonia, GA to the late Leo Sanders Boggs and Hazel Nancy Pierce Boggs. He retired from Calhoun Mills and served many years at the Calhoun Falls Fire Department. He served on the Calhoun Falls Town Council and Chamber of Commerce. He was active in the Calhoun Falls Little League Sports and the High School Booster Club. He was a member of the Jaycees, the Calhoun Falls Masonic Lodge #283, Gideon’s International, the Lion’s Club, Calhoun Falls Food Pantry and the Golden Age Club. Wendell loved sports and served as a Clemson IPTAY Representative for many years. He was a member of Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church where he sang in the choir, was active in the Men’s Ministries, and had formerly served as a Deacon. He enjoyed his prayer time with Northside Men’s Prayer Group. He served on the Abbeville County Hospital Board and served as a court bailiff at the Abbeville County Court House.

Surviving are two sons, Mickey Boggs and wife Lee, and Scotty Boggs; a daughter, Donna Dobbins and husband Mike; a brother, Billy Boggs and wife Janice; two grandchildren, Jason Smith and Kara Kent and husband Cole; and five great-grandchildren, Ally Campbell, Clay Campbell, Chase Smith, Liz Kent and Landon Smith.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. John Ingham, Rev. Virgil Manning, and Rev. Lawrence Johnson. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Calhoun Falls Charter School, 205 Edgefield Street, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628; or the Calhoun Falls Food Pantry, c/o Marian Tinsley, 1130 Latimer Road, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628.

Dear Mickey, Donna and Scotty-
I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I have talked with my siblings and we send all of our love and prayers to you all.
