Greenwood Abbeville Little League Evaluations

Greenwood Abbeville Little League will be holding evaluations Saturday, January 3rd, 2015 at 11:00 at the YMCA for baseball players ages 6 -12. This is open to all players interested in playing. Players are asked to bring baseball equipment (gloves, bats). We are looking forward to another great season. Please help us spread the word and keep a great organization growing. Palmetto Power 02 place second in Atlanta Fast Pitch Classic

The Palmetto Power girls came up a little short for the championship and placed second. Parents and fans were super excited for the girls to come this far and show these states that South Carolina girls can compete.

Ninety Six Wildcat Band Wins Second Place at State

The Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band won Second Place in the 2014 Division 1A SC State Championship on Saturday, October 25th, at Batesburg-Leesville High School with a Superior Rating of 90.6 for their program entitled "Superstitions".   This was the culmination of an exceptional six week competition season for the Wildcat Band in which they broke "mirrors", walked under ladders, and even jumped over one another on occasion.  Drum sticks were thrown, black cats were present, and the lucky number thirteen made its way into the show more than once.

Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band wins SC Upper State 1A Championship
For many of us, the sight of flashing blue lights stirs up a lot of negative emotions but late last Saturday night those lights signified victory for the Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band.  The Ninety Six Police escorted the Wildcat Band into the town square where they celebrated their 6th consecutive Upper State 1A Championship on October 18th.   Neither the Band nor their supporters allowed the cold air or the late hour to dampen their spirits as they played several songs and enjoyed their achievement.

NS Wildcat Marching Band takes second place at Clinton Invitational
On Saturday, October 11th, the Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band was awarded trophies for 2nd Place, Best Percussion, Best Color Guard, and High Music in Class 5 while competing at the Clinton Invitational at Wilder Stadium in Clinton, SC.

Spikes Baseball is back

Spikes Baseball is BACK for Summer 2015 and looking to find dedicated players who want to play baseball at the next level. Since Spikes beginning of showcase baseball in 2009, we have committed over 51 players to college baseball, our players have been recruited from states such as Colorado, Washington, New York, Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida to name a few.

EHS Viking Marching Band earned 2nd Place at Clinton Invitational

The Emerald High School Viking Marching Band placed 2nd, out of 5 bands in Class 1A, on Saturday, October 4th, in the Clinton Invitational at Clinton High School.  In addition to placing 2nd the band also received the best musical performance award in their class.  This is their 4th placement trophy and 6th caption trophy for a total of 10 trophies this season.

Lexington native sets new Erskine record
Belmont, N.C. – For the second straight game senior Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, S.C., White Knoll High School) blasted 15 kills to lead the Erskine Flying Fleet (10-5, 6-0) to a 3 to 0 victory over the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College Saturday in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action at the Wheeler Center.

Stoddard places 3rd at Coaches Classic

The Greenwood Cross Country team competed in the Coaches Classic Invitational Saturday September 13 in Columbia.  Anna Kathryn Stoddard finished 3rd in the International division.  Her time of 18:48 qualified her for a National Silver Standard.  This is for runners who have finished with a time of 19:45 or better for girls and 16:30 for boys.

NS Wildcat Marching Band wins takes 1st Place at C. Phillip McIntyre Tournament of Bands
The Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band took the field for competition just as the sun began to set at Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC on Saturday October 4th.   The absence of the sun was chillingly perceptible but the falling temperature didn't slow down the Wildcat Band.

Palmetto Christian Academy's Adams Swims to Gold

The Palmetto Christian Academy Junior Varsity Swim Team, grades 5th through 8th, competed in the 2014 SCISA JV/B Championship on Saturday, October 4th.  Wilson Hall Academy hosted the swim meet at the Sumter Aquatics Center.  Eighth grader Isaiah Adams, in his first year of competitive swimming, led the team in points and earned a 1st place finish and gold medal in the Boys 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:05.66 and a 3rd place finish and bronze medal in the boys 50 freestyle with a time of 27.08.

The WS Girl’s Golf nudged out St. Joes 207 to 210 on Wednesday Oct 1, 2014.  The results are as follows:  Channing Smith 51, Johnna Magaha 50, Courtney Coffey 54, Kelsey Allen 52.  St. Joes: Carly Lyvers 39, Mattie Due 40, Katie Capelle 65, Catherine Eberly 66.

Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band place second at Henry Laurens Invitational
The Ninety Six Wildcat Marching Band placed 2nd in Class 6 on Saturday, September 27th with a Superior Rating at the Henry Laurens Invitational Marching Band Competition in Laurens, SC.  They also won Best Percussion in their class and Most Innovative Production for the overall competition.

"JAKES" love Conservation Day at FujiFilm

Each year over a hundred kids from Greenwood and the Lakelands are invited out to FujiFilm’s JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge Ethics and Sportsmanship) Conservation Day held on Saturday, September 27, 2014.  This event is much more than just having kids come out to have some fun shooting BB guns and archery.  “JAKES day is a special event where kids, parents and community supporters can help educate our youth about conservation” explained Mike Waters, President of the Neil Cost Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
